Labcon MetalFree® centrifuge tubes are certified metal-free and can be centrifuged (RCF) up to 17,000 x G. The centrifuge tubes are ideal for storage and analysis tasks that require extremely low levels of the most common metals. The tubes are produced by a special patented process that virtually eliminates all metals.
Labcon MetalFree® metal-free centrifuge tubes
The metal-free centrifuge tubes are certified metal-free to 1 part per billion (1ppb). This makes them far cleaner than most other metal-free centrifuge tubes that are certified free of metals to 1 part per million (1 ppm). Labcon’s unique metal-free centrifuge tubes are developed in-house using an ICP system that makes the tubes free of more than 20 common trace metals to a detection level of 1 part per billion.
Labcon MetalFree® centrifuge tubes are not only free from ultra-low levels of trace metals. The tubes are also lot tested and certified free of detectable nuclease, endotoxin and ATP contamination.
The metal-free centrifuge tubes have black easy-to-read graduations and reverse reading scale. The tubes are easy to label as they have a large white writing field with a patented anti-smudge surface. The tubes have a leak-proof transparent cap made of polyethylene. The centrifuge tubes are sterile, autoclavable, certified free of ATP, RNase, DNase, DNA/RNA and pyrogen and can be frozen to -80°C.
Caps with many benefits
The tubes have a flat cap that also allows for easy labelling. The cap is transparent and made of polyethylene. The cap is easily closed by turning it ¾ turn, at which point the centrifuge tube will be evaporation-tight. If the cap is screwed on another ¼ turn, the spin tube will be 100% sealed and leak-proof.
The simple and streamlined design makes it possible to screw the cap on or off the centrifuge tube (evaporation-tight) by simply turning ¾ turn. This means that the cap can be screwed on in one movement, which means that the user puts significantly less strain on the wrist than if the cap had to be twisted twice. This helps to avoid strain injuries in fingers in the long term.
Labcon MetalFree centrifuge tubes are developed in Labcon’s own internal laboratory and tested in external professional laboratories, where the tubes are tested for use in most basic centrifugation tasks.
All sterile products from Labcon are packed in medical packaging and radiation sterilised according to a validated ISO 11137 method to a sterility assurance level of 10-6. Validated sterilisation ISO 11137 makes the centrifuge tubes ideal for use in research and medical laboratories.

An environmentally friendly and ACT labelled product
Labcon Metalfree centrifuge tubes are ACT-labelled and produced with a better environment in mind. The centrifuge tubes are manufactured at Labcon’s own production facilities in California, where all products are made from 93% renewable energy and include sustainable materials such as bioplastics and recyclable recycled plastics. Products are packaged in uniquely designed packaging with minimal plastic content and printed with plant based ink.
Labcon has more than 100 ACT-labelled products, validating Labcon’s commitment to a better environment. The ACT label makes it very transparent to see how sustainable the product is, assessed based on the environmental impact of production, energy consumption, packaging and viability.
The use of plastic products in laboratories is a necessity for scientific research, but these plastics often have a high environmental impact. Analysis shows that a large part of this impact comes from the manufacturing process. You can greatly improve your lab’s environmental impact by choosing Labcon’s Earth Friendly products that carry the ACT label.
